Recall roundup: Fiat 500L for airbag problems image

Fiat has issued a recall for the 500L vehicles because of a problem with the driver’s knee airbag, which can deploy improper.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration says that certain 2014 – 2015 Fiat 500L vehicles are currently being affected by a recall. According to the agency, several models have an increased risk of improper airbag deployment of the driver’s knee airbag, which can lead to injuries in case of an impact. Owners of the affected Fiat 500L will be contacted by the Chrysler Group and the necessary repairs / replacements will be made free of charge.

The affected Fiat 500L cars have been produced between March 3, 2012, and July 25, 2014 and there are a total of 25,483 units. The car manufacturer says that it is not aware of any injuries related to this issue on the 2014 – 2015 Fiat 500Ls but owners are being advised not to ignore this problem. The recall should begin soon but no official date has been announced yet.
