Ford has issued a recall for the new generation of the Fusion, Fusion Energi and Fusion Hybrid because of some problems with the key.

The North American based automaker Ford has issued a recall for the new generation of the Fusion which include the regular, the Energi and the Hybrid variants. According to the car manufacturer, there are a total of 64,869 units of the model which will be affected by this recall.

“The issue allows the key to be removed 30 minutes after the ignition is turned off, even if the transmission is not in Park. This is a compliance issue with FMVSS 114, a regulation involving theft protection and rollaway prevention”, said the company in its official press release.

From the 64,869 units of the Fusion models, , 56,479 have been sold in the United States, 6,048 in Canada and 2,342 in Mexico. The vehicles have been produced at the Flat Rock Assembly Plant between Sept 4, 2013 and Oct 31, 2014, and at the Hermosillo Assembly Plant, between July 27, 2013 and Oct 31, 2014. The carmaker is now aware of any injuries or accidents related to this condition. The recall will begin soon and the company will notify the owners.
