The North American based automaker Ford has recently announced a recall for the Transit Connect vans because of a problem with the wiper arms.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the 2011 and 2012 model years of the Ford Transit Connect vans are affected by this recall and their owners will have to take a trip back to the dealers in order to get the problem fixed. The NHTSA is saying that the wiper arms might not be adequately riveted and the windshield won’t be cleaned completely, but also the wiper arm might detach and the risk of a crash and injury will increase.
Ford Motor Co. and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration aren’t aware of any crashes or injuries related to this problem and no reports have been received from owners yet, except for the ones in which they complain about poor wiper performance and also about noisy wipers. The Ford dealers will replace the driver and passenger windshield wipers and blade assemblies free of charge and owners will be notified next week. The affected vehicles were assembled at the company’s Kocaeli plant in Turkey.
