Recall roundup: Ford Transit, Transit Connect and Escape vehicles image

Ford has issued two safety recalls in North America because of two separate problems.

The first one is covering the 2015 Transit and owners of these models will have to take them back to the dealers because of a seatbelt labeling issue. According to the car manufacturer, these models have the special-order front passenger seatbelt which is working properly but it has been mislabeled by the supplier and it has no information required by FMVSS 209. Obviously, no accidents or injuries have been related to this issue. There are a total of 49 vehicles of the 2015 model year vehicles affected by this issue and all of them are in a fleet, being produced between the 1st of March and the 10th of April, 2015.

The second recall is affecting a total of 203,445 vehicles. The models are the 2014 to 2015 Transit Connect and Escape in North American and 182,520 have been sold to the United States and federalized territories, 18,226 in Canada and 2,699 in Mexico. Owners of these models will have to take a trip back to the dealers because of an issue with the instrument panel cluster. According to the blue oval, when starting the vehicle, the instrument cluster, the messages, warning lights and warning chimes may not work and this is a compliance issue with FMVSS 101. The risk of a crash will increase if these won’t work, as the carmaker is saying. No accidents or injuries have been related to this condition.
