Jaguar Land Rover North America has announced yet another recall which is affecting, this time, the Jaguar XK vehicles, because of a problem with the exterior lighting.
This is the third recall announced recently by Jaguar Land Rover, after the one affecting the Range Rovers here and the one affecting the Range Rovers and the Range Rover Sports here. The newest recall is taking an aim at the Jaguar XK, which has an apparent problem with the front side lamps, which might turn off after 5 minutes.
“In the affected vehicles, the front side lamps (parking lamps) may turn off after approximately 5 minutes. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) No. 108, ‘Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment’”, says the NHTSA in its official press release.
The affected Jaguar XK vehicles are form the 2012 to 2015 model years and they have been assembled between the 4th of March, 2011, until the 20th of March, 2014. Jaguar says that because of the newest issue, the risk of crash might be increased. Owners of these models will be notified by the company and the dealers will be updating the software controlling the front side lamps, free of charge. The recall will begin also on the 13th of March, just like the two announced earlier. For any extra details on the topic, owners of the affected Jaguar XK can contact the company at 1 800 452 4827 or the NHTSA at 1 888 327 4236.
