The North American based automaker Lincoln has recently announced a recall for the 2012 MKS models, because of a problem with the fuel tanks.
According to Ford, besides the Lincoln MKS, the Ford Taurus and the Ford Explorer will also be affected by this recall, and their owners will have to take a trip back to the dealers in order to get the problem with the fuel tanks fixed. A total of 3,037 cars will be affected by the recall, across the United States, which have been produced between the 19th of July, 2011, and the 15th of March, 2012.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration says that the fuel tanks on the affected vehicles may have a marginally sealed seam in the side of the tank and this might not provide the expected strength in case of a crash, increasing the possibility of an injury. A vehicle fire is also possible. The recall is expected to being soon and the company’s dealers have already been informed. Owners will be notified too but until then, they are advised to contact Ford at 1-866-436-7332 or the NHTSA at 1-888-327-4236.
