Lotus has announced a recall for the Elise, Exige and Evora S Coupe because of some problems with the faulty oil cooler hose.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, a total of 860 units of the above mentioned models will be affected by this recall and their owners will have to take them back to the dealerships in order to get the problem with the oil cooler hose fixed.
“The oil cooler hose may detach from its fitting. A detached oil hose could spray oil on a tire, increasing the risk of a crash, or it could spray oil throughout the engine compartment, increasing the risk of a fire”, as the NHTSA is saying in its official press release.
The Lotus Elise and Exige, form the 2008 – 2011 model year, produced between November 2007 and July 2011, along with the 2011 Evora, produced between September 2010 and September 2011, will be affected by this recall. The company’s dealers will be inspecting the vehicles and make the necessary repairs free of charge. The recall should begin soon. For any extra details, owners can contact Lotus at 1-800-245-6887 or the NHTSA at 1-888-327-4236.
