Recall roundup: Lotus Evora S image

Lotus has recently announced a recall for several Evora S models, because of a possible oil leak which might lead to a fire.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, a total of 8- units of the Lotus Evora S will be affected by this recall in the United States and their owners will have to take a trip back to the dealers in order to get the problem with the oil leak fixed. The NHTSA says that if oil will be sprayed on a heat source, it may lead to a fire, increasing the risk of injury or even death.

“The engine oil cooler hose may chafe and rupture resulting in oil loss. Engine oil may be ejected onto the road or rear wheels which could cause a reduction in vehicle control and potential engine failure, increasing the risk of a crash. Engine oil sprayed onto a heat source may also lead to a vehicle fire”, as the NHTSA says in its official press release.

The affected vehicles have been produced between September 2010 and September 2011. The recall should begin soon but owners may contact Lotus at 1-770-476-6564 for further questions on the subject or the NHTSA at 1-888-327-4236.
