The Japanese based automaker Mitsubishi has recently announced a recall for several Outlander Sport SUVs, because of a problem with their sunroofs.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, a total of 3,181 units of the Mitsubishi Outlander Sport models, equipped with a panoramic sunroof, will be affected by this recall in the United States, and their owners will have to take a trip back to the dealers in order to get the problem solved.
“The panoramic glass roof may have been installed without primer being applied before the adhesive. Without primer being used, the panoramic glass roof may have reduced adhesion, possibly allowing the glass roof to detach from the vehicle, resulting in a road hazard to other vehicles”, as the NHTSA is saying in its recall summary.
The affected Mitsubishi Outlander Sport vehicles are from the 2011 model year and they have been assembled between August 26, 2010, and March 29, 2011. The recall is expected to start shortly. The company’s dealers will inspect the vehicles and do the necessary adjustments free of charge. Meanwhile, if you own such a vehicle and have more questions on the subject you can contact Mitsubishi Motors North America (MMNA) at 1-888-648-7820, or the NHTSA at 1-888-327-4236.
