Nissan has issued a recall involving several vehicles because of the faulty Takata airbag inflators.
The newest car manufacturer to be affected by the faulty Takata airbag inflators is Nissan which has recently announced a recall for several vehicles. The affected cars are the 2002 – 2004 Sentra, the 2002 – 2003 Pathfinder, the 2002 – 2003 Maxima, the 2002 – 2003 Infiniti QX4, the 2002 – 2003 I35, the 2003 FX45 and the 2003 FX35.
“This recall addresses both the passenger side frontal air bags that were originally installed in the vehicles, as well as replacement air bags that may have been installed as replacement service parts. A replacement air bag may have been installed, as one example, if a vehicle had been in a crash necessitating the replacement of the passenger side frontal air bag”, says the NHTSA in its official press release.
In case of a crash, the inflator of the airbag can rupture and this can cause metal fragments to be sprayed to the occupants. The company’s dealers will be inspecting the affected vehicles and make the necessary replacements free of charge. The recall is expected to begin on the 11th of August.
