Recall roundup: RAM trucks for rear axle issue image

FCA US LLC is announcing a recall for certain RAM trucks because of a problem with their rear axles.

The newest recall announced by FCA is covering the 2015 and 2016 model year RAM 1500 trucks. The affected vehicles have been produced with rear axles which were incorrectly heat treated and because of this condition, they may fracture and wheel separation may occur, increasing the risk of a crash.

“The affected vehicles may have been built with rear axles that were incorrectly heat treated. If the rear axle shaft was not properly heated treated, it may fracture and a wheel separation could occur, increasing the risk of a crash”, says the NHTSA in is recall Summary and Consequence of the problem.

The affected models are the 2015 and 2016 RAM 1500 trucks, which have been produced between June 17, 2015, and September 28, 2015. Owners of these vehicles will be notified by Chrysler and the company’s dealers will be inspecting them and replacing the axle assemblies, as necessary. The action will be made free of charge to the owners. An exact notification schedule hasn’t been provided at this point.
