General Motors has issued another recall for almost half a million cars affecting the Saturn Aura, the Pontiac G8 and the Chevrolet Malibu, due to a fracturing shift cable.
Another recall is affecting General Motors’ vehicles. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the models affected are the Saturn Aura, the Pontiac G8 and the Chevrolet Malibu. Owners of these vehicles will have to take a trip back to the dealers because of a problem with a fracturing shift cable. If this happens, drivers won’t be able to shift the vehicle into “park” or remove the key from the ignition.
The recall has been originally announced back in 2012 but it has been now expanded. The total number of vehicles affected by it reach 482,454 units and they include the 2007 and 2008 model years. All cars have been equipped with the four-speed automatic transmission. Owners of the Saturn Aura, the Pontiac G8 and the Chevrolet Malibu will be noticed about the expanded recall and the company’s dealers will make the necessary repairs / replacements free of charge.
