The Japanese based automaker Toyota has recently issued a recall for several of its vehicles because of a possible fire risk.
According to the car manufacturer, several Toyota and Lexus vehicles have been affected by a new recall which has been announced due to a possible fire risk. The affected vehicles are the Toyota Avalon, the Toyota Camry, the Toyota Highlander and the Toyota Sienna from 2014 model year, along with the Lexus RX from the 2015 model year.
“In the involved vehicles, the end cap on the right-hand fuel delivery pipe in the engine compartment could have been insufficiently welded during manufacturing at the supplier. In this condition, fuel could leak from the fuel delivery pipe and, in the presence of an ignition source, could increase the risk of a vehicle fire”, as the car manufacturer is saying in its official press release.
All of the above mentioned models have been equipped with the 2GR-FE engine. Toyota is not aware of any crashes, injuries or fires related to this problem and owners of the affected vehicles will soon be notified by first class mail on the issue. The Toyota and Lexus dealers will be inspecting the fuel delivery pipe and replace it with a new one, free of charge. For any extra details on the subject, owners can contact Toyota at 1-800-331-4331 or Lexus at 1-800-255-3987.
