The Japanese based automaker Toyota has recently announced a recall for 247,000 vehicles because of the Takata airbag inflators problem.
The newest carmaker to be affected by the Takata airbag inflators is Toyota but this isn’t the first time when the company’s models have turned out to be suffering by this issue. According to the North American division of the automaker, there are a total of 247,000 vehicles which have been affected by the Takata airbag inflators issue and their owners will have to take a trip back to the dealers in order to get the problem solved.
The affected Toyota models are from the 2001 to 2004 model years and they include the Corolla, the Sequoia SUV, the Matrix, the Tundra pickup truck and the Lexus SC. Owners of these vehicles will be notified by Toyota in first class mail starting this week and a schedule will be appointed with a local dealership. The fix means replacing the old airbag inflator with a new one and it will be made free of charge. Owners can find out more details on this recall by contacting Toyota at 1-800-331-4331 or Lexus at 1-800-255-3987.
