The Japanese based automaker Toyota has recently announced a recall for some of its models, because of a problem with the power steering.
According to the car manufacturer, a total of 185, 000 Toyota vehicles will be affected by this recall and their owners will have to take a trip back to the dealers because of a problem with the power steering. Toyota says that the affected cars are the Yaris, Vitz, Verso-S and Ractis.
“In the involved vehicles, a relay in the Power Steering Control Module of the electronic power steering system could experience a short circuit due to insufficient distances between terminals in the relay and moisture contamination of relay coil windings. This could cause a loss of power steering assist, resulting in increased steering effort at low speeds”, as the carmaker is saying in its official press release.
The affected Toyota Yaris and Vitz models have been produced between November, 2010, and March, 2012, while the Verso-S and the Ractis have been assembled between August, 2010, and August, 2011. If you own one of these vehicles, we advise you to contact your local Toyota dealership in order to find out more.
