DS Automobiles has decided to officially introduce the updated 2016 DS 3 and DS 3 Cabrio models.
The facelifted versions have remained the same flavored DS offerings, albeit now sporting a revised front bumper and modified “DS Wings” grille complete with chrome trimming. There are also new LED headlights, updated wheel sets and a fresh color range. Speaking of the latter, the DS 3 and DS 3 Cabrio can be highlighted for being very customizable – the brand says future owners can have any of 78 body and roof color combinations, while also choosing among ten roof decals, four soft tops, and ten exterior mirror housings. Inside the cabin we have almost the same atmosphere as in the predecessors, but now the automaker has opted for a new touchscreen infotainment system that comes packing a seven-inch screen and has Apple CarPlay usability. Also on point are a refreshed set of trims and upholstery combinations while the new center stack makes do without 20 buttons that were present on the former models.
Technology and safety features include a hill assist system, an Active City Brake system (using lasers it can detect possible obstacles and is able to automatically brake if the driver has no reaction) a rearview camera as well as front and rear park sensors. The engine range is comprised of eight different iterations: three PureTech three-cylinder gasoline options, two THP four-cylinder petrols as well as three BlueHDi diesel variants. The powerplants can be mated to a regular manual, semi-automatic, or automatic transmission.
Also available is the DS 3 Performance which comes with the 1.6-liter THP four-cylinder engine churning out 208 horsepower and 221 pound-feet of torque. This one has a different, sport-tuned suspension, complete with 15 mm lower ride, as well as wider front and rear track, a high-performance braking system and an optional limited slip differential.
