The very first details with the upcoming Renault Alpine sports car have been recently announced by the company’s boss, Carlos Tavares.
According to the French based automaker’s official, Carlos Tavares, who has spoken to the guys at Autocar recently, 70 percent of the styling is done and the model is featuring some retro lines, along with the four round headlights, the side scoops, an “arrowhead nose”, dynamic proportions and an overall modern look. The model will become a direct rival for the Alfa Romeo 4C and its starting price is expected to be similar to the one of the Italian vehicle.
As for the engine which will be used in the new Renault Alpine sports car, rumors are saying that this will be a 2.0 liter four-cylinder turbocharged unit, which will produce a total output of 280 HP (209 kW), and it will be mated to a six-speed manual transmission, or to the new dual-clutch EDC automatic. The Renault Alpine sports car will weigh approximately 1,000 kg thanks to the use of aluminum, steel and composites on the spaceframe chassis. If the Renault Alpine doesn’t sound too good for you, you will also be able to order the Caterham version, which will use the same architecture but it will pack a Toyota engine instead of a French unit.
