Following the recent refresh of the main Clio family, the subcompact’s most enticing version – the RS – has also been treated to a series of tweaks and updates.
Among the modifications announced for the Clio RS lineup we can mention the new LED fog lights which are styled to give the impression of a motorsport’s chequered flag. The facelifted Clio RS will reach dealerships across Europe this autumn, with subtle changes to mirror the evolutionary approach of the family’s facelift. Among the highlights we can mention the refreshed 18-inch alloy wheels and those new LED fog lights with motorsport-inspired pattern. Under the hood sits the same turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine packing 200 horsepower and it’s unfortunately still linked solely to the six-speed dual-clutch transmission – at least it keeps the steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters.
Performance can be enhanced using the sport chassis that enhances “versatility and everyday use” or a Cup chassis which comes with a sportier driving experience. The Trophy version is also here, with the upgraded 220 hp engine. This is enough to sprint to 62 mph in 6.6 seconds on its way to a maximum speed of 146 mph. Other modifications include the bespoke suspension with 20 millimeters up front and 10mm out back ride height reduction. More importantly the automaker has also installed a custom exhaust system developed in cooperation with Akrapovič. In related news, the standard Clio will also get the GT Line package, boasting a sportier front bumper, Dark Metal accents, a chromed exhaust tip, and bespoke 16- or 17-inch alloy wheels.
