Renault Captur (Clio crossover) rendered

The first render image with the Renault Captur, best known as the Clio based crossover, has recently hit the web and it might provide a first look into the model.

The brand new Renault Clio based crossover is being known internally as the J87 but rather than using parts from the new Clio generation, rumors are saying that the model in question will actually be based on the same platform as the Nissan Juke. The exterior design of the model should be inspired by the futuristic Captur concept, which was unveiled back in 2011. The Renault crossover will be a bigger brother of the Clio and it will share the same platform with the Juke.

The model in question will be a direct rival for the Opel / Vauxhall Mokka, Peugeot 2008, Ford EcoSport, Ford Trax and other models in the segment. Under the hood, the J87 will probably get a choice of three engines, a 900cc three-cylinder turbocharged Energy TC3 90 with 89 HP (90 PS / 66 kW) and 135 Nm of torque (100 lb-ft), a 1.5 liter four-cylinder Energy dCi diesel also producing 89 HP but more torque, 220 Nm (162 lb-ft), and a 1.2 liter four-cylinder TCE generating 118 HP (120 PS / 88 kW) and 190 Nm of torque (140 lb-ft). All-wheel drive will be offered as an option. More details on the model will be announced during the 2013 Geneva Motor Show where it will make its public debut.
