Renault has officially announced its plans to offer its first pickup truck which will be based on the popular Duster budget SUV and will go official this month.
After Dacia has introduced a limited edition of the Duster Pickup truck developed with Romturingia, time has come for the car manufacturer to be ready to receive a true production version of the vehicle, which will be wearing the Renault badges all over its body, at first at least. The model in question will be the first ever pickup truck to be produced by the French based marque and it is scheduled to be officially presented to the public at the Buenos Aires Auto Show, on the 18th of June.
Confirming such a vehicle wasn’t the only thing Renault did and we also have, in another premiere, two official teaser images which are partially revealing its design. The new Renault Duster will be offering a five-seat layout, a four-door body style and a truck bed in the rear. We are not sure at this time if the rear end will be similar to the 300 units of the vehicle ordered by OMV Petrom in Romania but we do expect the same interior design, with the MediaNav, electric windows, cruise control, air conditioning and so on. The same engine lineup will also be adopted and the four-wheel drive will become available too. Chances are Renault will be tweaking the suspension system of the pickup truck compared to the SUV. Additional details on it remain unknown for the moment and will be announced next Thursday.
