At the beginning of November 2011, the “Journalists of the Automotive Industry” association in Argentina or PIA (Periodistas de la Industria Automotriz) chose Renault Duster as the Car of the Year 2011, in the SUV / Commercial vehicle category.
The jury was composed of 17 specialized media journalists who had to choose from 35 new models launched in Argentina between November 1 2010 and October 31 2011. The Duster was chosen as the SUV of the year in Argentina, following similar awards received in Europe by the Dacia-branded version. The Dacia Duster was one of the seven finalists of the “Car of the year 2011 in Europe” contest and won the “Car of the year 2011 in Romania” award in its home market. It also won the “Autobest 2011” award and was chosen the “Car of the Year 2011 in Croatia”.
Present in Argentina for more than 50 years, Renault has an important position in the country with a market share of 13.0 percent in 2010. Launched mid-October 2011, the Renault Duster adds to an existing extensive model range, with Renault Clio, Logan, Sandero Stepway, Fluence, Symbol, Sandero, Kangoo, Koléos, Mégane and Latitude (in decreasing order in terms of sales).
