The carmaker has recently announced the arrival of the new limited-edition Mégane Akaju as the compact hatchback’s most exclusive trim level, with order books being opened at home in France from June 7.
It’s odd to call it the most exclusive since the Akaju is actually sitting in between the €25,800 Intens and €32,400 GT, but the idea might be owed to the fact it’s only available at home and probably in limited numbers. Prices kick off at €27,600 when selecting the gasoline Energy TCe 130 with the standard manual transmission, and can also be had with the Energy dCi 110 turbo diesel if you’re willing to part ways with more money – €31,000 and want the EDC dual-clutch gearbox. If the dCi with 130 hp is what you need you can have it as well, but only with the manual transmission. Based on the Intens trim level, the Akaju also features the elegant 18-inch Grand Tour alloy wheels, some Akaju badging and extra-tinted rear glass.
Moving inside, the driver and front passenger get heated and massaging seats, Black and Club Brown leather upholstery and matching brown brushed aluminum door panel trims. Other standard perks include the Bose premium audio system and the color head-up display. The R-LINK 2 navigation infotainment system boasts Android Auto and Apple CarPlay – which is a new feature on all trim levels from now on. There are also optional goodies – electrically operated sunroof (€800), adaptive cruise control (€300), and the Easy Parking Pack (€500).
