No less than 25,000 bookings have been received by Renault for the Kwid in India.
Renault’s smallest crossover yet is called the Kwid and it has been officially unveiled earlier this year. But how popular can such a model become? Well, the answer is extremely popular, since no less than 25,000 orders have been received by the carmaker in the Asian country, but let’s not forget that the population here is approximately 1 billion people. The entry-level vehicle has a very low price, as it starts from 256,968 rupees, or just under 4,000 USD. Renault says that 40 percent of buyers are below the age of 28 and about 15 percent are female.
The Renault Kwid has been developed on a brand new platform, called the CMF-A, and it is aimed towards the A-segment. The small crossover is just 3.68 meters long and 1.58 meters wide. The model is offering the best luggage capacity in its class and it also has the biggest interior. Some of the features found on it include the 7-inch touch screen display and the digital instrument cluster. The Renault Kwid is making use of a 0.8 liter engine, producing a total of 53 HP. The unit is connected to a five-speed manual transmission and it is eating approximately 4 liters of fuel every 100 km. A larger engine, a 1.0 liter working with an automatic transmission, is expected to be introduced sometimes next year.
