The German tire manufacturer Continental has recently revealed an all-electric Renault Megane, which is capable of providing a total range up to 150 km.
Renault didn’t develop an electric version of the Megane until now because they have the Fluence ZE, but that didn’t stop the German tire manufacturer Continental to produce such a “green” version of the French model. Continental is already in charge of producing electric motors for the Fluence ZE or for the Kangoo ZE, so modifying the Renault Megane wasn’t such a big deal for the company, and all the job is being done by an electric motor and a battery pack.
Continental is saying that the all-electric Renault Megane’s electric motor is generating a total output of 95 horsepower (96 PS / 70 kW) and it has a peak torque of 226 Nm (166 lb-ft). The powertrain is drawing its power from a battery pack which weighs 154 kg (339 lbs), and the Renault Megane EV can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 11.9 seconds. The total range achieved by the Megane EV on a single charge is 150 km or 93 miles.
