Renault official says Alpine will follow in the footsteps of Porsche image

The French based automaker Renault has recently announced its plans to make the Alpine brand a direct competitor for the Porsche.

The official announcement doesn’t exactly sound like that but it includes the Renault senior vice president of Corporate Design, Laurens van den Acker, who is saying that Alpine will follow in the footsteps of Porsche. The company’s official has recently spoken to the guys at Piston Heads, revealing some of the carmaker’s plans.

“We need to create the 911 of Alpine. Then we can do the Panamera and the Cayman”, as Laurens van den Acker told our source.

The very first model wearing the Alpine logos on its body will see daylight for the first time in 2016, when it will compete with the brand new Alfa Romeo 4C. As for the A110-50 Concept, this also has a pretty good chance of hitting the production line too, but no details on this subject have been announced just yet. Additional details on the revival of the Alpine brand, and what its models will be, remain unknown for the moment, and will probably be announced over the following years.
