Renault is planning to introduce a production version of the Kwid Concept, which will slot below the current Captur crossover.
After seeing small crossovers such as the Renault Captur, we didn’t think that even smaller ones can hit the market, but it seems that the French based automaker has some big plans for what may be considered an A-segment crossover. The company is planning to introduce a production version of the Kwid Concept, which will slot below the Captur. The production variant of the model will stand around 4 meters in length but it will be 120mm shorter than the Captur.
The Kwid nameplate is expected to be kept for the final product which is also believed to get a three-door body style and a rounded body shape with some plastic body cladding. The model will get an increased ride height, underbody protection, a 90 HP (66 kW) and 135 Nm (100 lb-ft) TCe engine, along with an SCe naturally aspirated 70 HP (51 kW) and 91 Nm (67 lb-ft) of torque. The Renault Kwid is expected to be introduced in its final production version sometimes in 2016. This will be 20 to 30 percent more affordable than the Clio based crossover.
