The French automaker has recently announced its intention to present in front of the worldwide audience for the first time during the Geneva Motor Show the next generation 2016 Scenic and a second, undisclosed model.
Most likely the compact MPV Scenic will share the spotlight at the Swiss event with the estate version of the all-new Megane – dubbed the Sport Tourer. While nothing is official yet the company did confirm it would reveal two all-new compact models in Geneva and numerous spy photos have caught both undergoing lots of prototype testing. Starting with the Scenic, which is also celebrating 20 years of existence, we know the model has been previewed by the R-Space concept and thus align to the modern design language that already underpins the new Megane, Kadjar or Talisman. The interior is also expected to jump forward, with higher quality materials and the new R-Link 2 infotainment system sporting the 8.7-inch display with a portrait orientation.
The Megane Sport Tourer is expected to look at least as good as the five-door hatchback (the previous generation saw the ST looking way better, by the way) and the body style will not sacrifice practicality on the design shrine: reports are putting cargo capacity at about 19.4 cubic feet (550 liters) with the rear seats in place. Since both the Scenic and Megane / Megane ST ride on the same CMF platform we’re expecting engine options to be the same across all three models: dCi 90, 110, 130 and TCe 100, 130, 205.
