The French automaker has announced the introduction of its new Megane Sport Tourer via a teaser, also letting us know the model will get its own official reveal on Monday.
We knew earlier this week the carmaker was looking to bring two world premieres at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show and we guessed correctly it would be the Megane Sport Tourer – the estate version of the new generation compact car. This Twitter teaser depicts the profile of a station wagon and this is the best confirmation possible. Just like the previous generation’s iteration, this Megane ST looks like it will be an attractive offering – more so after the new generation hatchback also mended the stylistic errors of the predecessor. We’re also expecting the ST to be a practical family car – jumping from the hatchback’s 434 liters of trunk capacity to around 550 liters. The ST will also be more spacious than the older offering, as the hatchback has gained 20 mm of additional rear leg room and has now 25 liters of interior stowage space – and having the exact same wheelbase is a guarantee.
The powertrain family will also faithfully mirror the hatchback’s offerings: three petrol and three turbodiesel units. So, future owners will be granted the TCe 100, 130, and 205 or if they want to go the common rail road they will select from the dCi 90, 110 and 130 versions. After the online introduction on February 22, we’re expecting the Megane ST to be present in the metal at Renault’s booth in Geneva starting March 1.
