The French based automaker Renault is planning to launch a new entry-level crossover model which will go against the popular Nissan Juke.
Even if there is no official word, just yet, from Renault on this subject, the guys at autoexpress.co.uk are announcing that the company is planning to introduce a new model into the B-segment SUV, which will go against its “ally”, the Nissan Juke, or even the Opel Mokka, Peugeot 2008 and other similar vehicles. Just like the Nissan Juke, the future Renault crossover will come with the four-wheel drive system, but the model will be sold, in the entry-level version, with front-wheel drive only. The future Renault SUV will share the engine lineup with the Juke, including the fuel efficient 1.5 liter turbo diesel and the top of the line 1.6 liter turbo petrol unit.
Our source is also saying that besides the Nissan Juke rival, the French car company is also planning two other SUVs, a mid-sized model based on the future Nissan Qashqai and even a larger one, which will hae a lot of things in common with the Nissan X-Trail replacement. The Juke rival is expected to be similar to the Hi-Cross concept car, which was previewed in 2011 at the Geneva Motor Show. On the segment which is dominated by the Nissan Juke, Peugeot will launch the 2008, a 208-based SUV, Opel will present the Mokka, a Corsa-based SUV, Audi the Q1, an A1-based SUV, Mercedes-Benz just confirmed the A-Class-based 4×4 and Land Rover and Lexus are also planning their own models.
