Render of 2017 Jeep SUV looks like the real deal – we’ll have to wait until March to see if it is image

The talented digital artists out there have decided to take a leap of faith and use their skills and acquired knowledge to depict the upcoming compact sport utility vehicle from Jeep that is scheduled to make its first worldwide appearance during the New York Auto Show.

This March is going to be a busy month for the automotive industry, as heads will be turned in Europe towards the Geneva Motor Show and in America towards the New York Auto Show. There the Compass and Patriot are scheduled to receive the successor model – both will be finally retired and changed for the better with an all new vehicle. The latter is scheduled to retain one of the names but so far Fiat Chrysler Automobiles has only announced it will decide between the two – without picking a winner officially yet.

The rendered model is looking like a brother of the Cherokee – we have the razor thin headlights while the side profile seems to have taken cues from the Grand Cherokee – of course the end design could be pretty much entirely different so we’ll have to wait until March to see if this artist interpretation was spot on. Anyways, off to the technical details: the new Compass/Patriot should be riding on an enhanced version of the Small Wide architecture used for the Renegade/Fiat 500X duo and will deliver both FWD and AWD models – the engine under the hood is tipped as a turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-four engine linked to the nine-speed automatic gearbox. Sales are expected during the second part of the year as a 2017 model year.
