We’re already used to seeing abnormalities in the automotive industry, but the automakers often reach out more than we can bear. A good example – the coupe SUV niche.
That particular niche could be owed in modern times to the BMW X6 – which now has a valuable follower/offspring/copy in the form of rivaling model Mercedes Benz GLE Coupe. BMW now even has two such oddities with the addition of the X4 crossover, and they don’t seem to have been turned off by the lackluster welcome given to the BMW 5 Series GT and added the BMW 3 Series GT, which take the concept and slap it onto the traditional sedan bodies. Never mind that, because mainstream brands have also tried the solution, such as Honda with the Crosstour and others have been exploring the idea, at least – for example Volkswagen with the CrossBlue Coupe SUV concept. But let’s get back to the subject at hand, because well known renderer Theophilus Chin has come up with another answer to the neverending question of “what if?”
He is responsible in the past for the Toyota Fortuner Coupe transformation and if you don’t believe that one was actual torture to the eyes then maybe you’ll change your opinion when glancing at the Mitsubishi Pajero Sport Coupe derivation. There’s nothing “sport” about a model that has the innards of the L200/Triton pickup truck anyways and patching up the back with a slope won’t make a difference. So, thank you for the Photoshop manipulation Theo and here’s hoping that Mitsubishi will use your renders on a batch of prospective clients to understand the futility of such an attempt.
