Report – Alfa Romeo could crank up the Giulia Veloce to 350 hp image

According to a recently discovered hidden entry into a Dutch parts catalogue, Alfa Romeo next move for the Giulia might be the introduction of a mild-hardcore rival for the Audi S4 or Mercedes-AMG C43.

The Alfa Romeo Giulia model range is rather sizeable taking into account the Italian brand is returning from the brink of collapse – but there’s still a sizeable gap between the 276 horsepower (206 kilowatts) Giulia Veloce (Super in the United States) and the mind-blowing 505 hp (380 kW) Giulia Quadrifoglio, owner of the fastest lap for a production sedan on the Nurburgring Nordschleife. Alfa might be on its way to rectify the issue, according to the latest find. Alfa specialist Squadra Tuning encountered a log in the Dutch market FCA parts website that showcases a more powerful version of the Veloce/Super’s 2.0-liter, four-cylinder, turbocharged GME T4 motor – taken to 350 hp (261 kW).

“CC2.0” refers to the GME T4 engine, “vermogen” is the Dutch for “engine”, and “PK” is the Dutch symbol for metric horsepower. Translate all the gibberish and the entry shows the engine will become available in two power versions – one new with 350 hp. This new model would then go head to head with Giulia’s main competitors – Audi S4, BMW 340i, supercharged Jaguar XE, and Mercedes-AMG C43.
