An official document leaked in the press has shown Alfa Romeo intends to take the wraps off six new models between 2017 and 2020 – next to the two it already has on store for the current year.
This year might be remembered as the turning point for Alfa Romeo’s revival plan because the make is on its way towards not one but two completely new products – the Giulia sedan arriving in dealerships and the mid-size SUV called Stelvio set to be revealed officially during the Paris Motor Show. The plan then calls for the introduction of a full size sedan – a flagship sitting above the Giulia – then two other SUVs, one above and one below the Stelvio; followed by a hatchback that should come as a replacement for the Giulietta as well as two “specialty” models. The plans were part of a presentation revealed to investors of Alfa’s parent company Fiat Chrysler Automobiles.
Another product plan that leaked some time ago included a different scenario: two compact cars, two mid-size cars, a full-size sedan, two SUVs, and one specialty car coming in between 2015 and 2018 – but we already know this thing is something in the past now. Most likely the vast majority of the new plan’s cars will deploy the rear-wheel-drive platform of the Giulia – with the company first focusing on the EMEA (Europe, Middle East, and Africa) and NAFTA (North American Free Trade Agreement) regions.
