In line with the latest nomenclature, which includes the DBX and DB11 names, the DBZ should tip us to a future Aston Martin model being cooked up in the secret laboratories.
According to the European trademark office, the new DBZ moniker can be used for “Passenger cars; racing cars; car bodies” – and it was filed quite recently, on June 1 by Aston Martin Lagonda Limited. Since this is a completely fresh trademark application, it’s unknown at this point what model or type of car would be wearing it. But it comes as a natural progression of the company’s current naming nomenclature that includes the DB11 flagship supercar and the all new DBX crossover.
We could also link the name to a new model co-developed by Aston Martin and Zagato since the British automaker and the Italian design house have had a successful collaboration for decades – and they also recently introduced the prototype of a Vanquish-inspired Zagato model. That one was introduced officially during the Villa d’Este Concours d’Elegance to critical and public acclaim and we could see it spawn a limited series version. Aston Martin though has a full production roster on its hands in the near future, including an all-electric Rapide, the hypercar it’s working on with Red Bull – called for now “Project AM-RB001″.
