If you thought 600 hp weren’t enough when you drive a hulking ultra-luxury sport utility vehicle, fret not, Bentley has you covered as they officially confirmed a hardcore version of the Bentayga is on its way.
The actual deliveries of the all-wheel drive behemoth have started not long ago but apparently there’s official confirmation from Crewe that a development program is already under way taking care of the spiced up version of the Bentayga. This is what Bentley’s chief executive officer Wolfgang Dürheimer has told a publication on the sidelines of the Auto China 2016 in Beijing. This is not an otherworldly revelation actually, since the Internet has already captured spy shots of the hotter Bentayga while testing and the Continental GT got treated to the Speed incarnation quite fast.
Given the “Speed” treatment, we’re looking at a Bentayga that will lose most of its off-roading credentials in favor of besting sports cars on the tarmac. As such, it will sport more than the regular 600 horsepower (447 kilowatts) seen from the new biturbo 6.0-liter W12. And since the usual difference is of 50 hp, we can safely assume the Bentayga Speed will sport at least 650 hp under the hood. This means the jump to 60 mph (96 km/h) will only last about four seconds and the top speed will reach the 200 mph (322 km/h) threshold as the regular guise maxes out at 187 mph (301 km/h). By the way, we also heard about a “Coupe” version of the Bentayga, which could be like the SUV treatment added to the gorgeous EXP 10 Speed 6 concept.
