According to a Brazilian magazine’s report, Bernie Ecclestone’s mother-in-law has been kidnapped in Sao Paolo, with the ransom of 120 million Brazilian Reals beign the biggest ever in the country.
Troublesome reports are emerging from Brazil, just prior to the start of Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, where local magazine Veja has reported 67-year-old Aparecida Schunck has been kidnapped by unknown assailants from the Interlagos area this past Friday. Apparently, the kidnappers are calling for the biggest ransom in Brazil – R$120 million – approximately US$36.5 million. The story has been corroborated by a second report from the Jornal Nacional on Rede Globo.
Schunk is Bernie Ecclestone’s mother-in-law from his third marriage to Fabiana Flosi, with whom the F1 boss has been married since 2012, following their first encounter on the stage of the Brazilian GP in 2009. If the reports pan out this would not be the first time Ecclestone has been involved with a kidnapping – in 2012 Martin Peckham was sentenced to five years in jail for threatening to abduct Ecclestone’s daughter Tamara unless he was given £200,000 (US$262,500).
