We are all waiting for BMW to deliver a hardcore M2 in the same vein as the M4 GTS but it turns out before that happens folks in the United States will be able to snatch a new 2017 M2 Performance Edition.
The special series is allegedly limited to just 150 units and come with both the manual and DCT auto transmission – though it won’t be cheap at $61,695 (including destination and handling) a pop. Still, the 9k surge from the standard model should bring a wide array of enhancements – from the exclusive Alpine White paint to the M Driver’s Package, which among others takes the maximum velocity to 168 mph (270 km/h). There’s also an M Performance coilover suspension with specific adaptation for the M2, as well as titanium exhaust tips belonging to the M Performance exhaust system.
M Performance-branded illuminated door sills and LED door projections with “Performance Edition” will be included in the menu, alongside other goodies such as black kidney grille, side gills and mirror caps. Inside the cockpit, the M2 Performance Edition will treat its owner and passengers to manually adjustable sports seats, a HiFi sound system and a basic keyless entry system that will help lower weight.
