With the introduction of the CT6 and XT5, Cadillac is apparently in full swing with the new nomenclature strategy – and a recent report comes to deliver the next new moniker.
General Motors has had trouble keeping the Cadillac brand relevant for all those that don’t see it synonymous with American luxury anymore. The US automaker is well aware that around the world SUVs and crossovers reign supreme now and understands why its mostly passenger car centric lineup doesn’t live up to the hype. With just the huge Escalade and more manageable XT5 to showcase in the most popular segment, the company needs to come out with a new crossover fast. As it turns out, they are preparing to do so – and according to the latest reports we have a model year and a name.
According to a recent interview with Cadillac’s president Johan de Nysschen, the all-new model will be named XT4, and he came out to set the record straight – “We started seeing online reports of the prototypes undergoing testing and being mis-named.” The reported apparition is for the 2019 model year, with the new XT4 most likely riding on the GM D2XX platform, which houses models such as the Chevrolet Equinox and GMC Terrain.
