The luxury brand’s chief, Johan de Nysschen, has reportedly confirmed a bunch of details surrounding the marque’s upcoming future model plans.
Cadillac’s boss is among the most charismatic executives in the auto industry and he recently set the record straight when a US publication discussed the brand’s plans. As such, in the comments section to a report about the brand’s future, he tipped the world to juicy details about the strategy. De Nysschen first confirmed the recent reports that a flagship CT8 sedan is not on the roster anymore, but he also stated “There will be a flagship, but given the segment development, it will not be a large four door sedan,” meaning the top of the line model will only make use of a different body style – maybe a five-door liftback as we saw in their latest concept. But there are also reports of a Cadillac SUV set to compete with the Bentley Bentayga and Rolls-Royce Cullinan, so this could also fit the bill.
Cadillac fans should also expect another new pair of crossovers, one under the Escalade and another more compact slotted beneath the XT5. The sedans aren’t forgotten either as two examples are also under way and we’re hoping they will bring as much as possible of the Escala design. Some of the products will also pack electrified powertrains as well as new engines, such as a rumored biturbo 4.2-liter V8.
