Dodge has announced that it is working on a small car capable of achieving fuel economy of 40 miles per gallon.
According to Detroit Free Press, get’s even deeper and indicate that this new model, based on Fiat’s C-EVO platform, will hit 40 miles per gallon and possibly even resemble the Giulietta in its final form.
Dodge CEO Ralph Gilles told journalists on Sunday that the tooling for the car was recently handed of to Chrysler Group’s engineering department. That small car is key to Chrysler’s recovery strategy and to meeting stricter U.S. fuel-economy standards.
Besides, Dodge who has recently been in the headlines with a slew of new models like the upcoming Dodge Charger and Dodge Durango, seems to be working hard on its product portfolio.
Look for an official announcement on the small Dodge sometime next summer.
