We’re still pretty daft to companies putting their entire plans out in the open on roadmaps – which then get leaked over the Internet. Or is it a clever marketing play to scare the competition?
No matter the case, drug Hyundai’s Genesis premium brand has spilled the beans after Korean media managed to acquire a company roadmap strategy that showcases each model introduction until 2020. During the next four years the very young premium automaker is set to deliver six models, among them a base sedan to fight the 3 Series and coupe, alongside the mandatory crossovers. The roadmap also depicts the already introduced G90 flagship model that debuted in US guise at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit this January. The company also revealed back then the G80 sedan, which serves as the reintroduction of the Hyundia Genesis, packing the new badge up front.
More importantly, the roadmap has revealed the next introduction is drawing near – the G70 base model will be revealed this year. The model has already been showcased using the New York concept and will be placed in the midsize premium segment fighting German, British, American and Japanese foes. The prototype used a hybrid setup with a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine and an electric motor for a rather subtle combined maximum output of 245 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque. Alter on before 2020 the premium brand will also present two luxurious crossovers and a dynamic coupe. The latter three are shrouded in mystery for now but media reports call for compact and midsize crossover models.
