You know Hamilton, the Mercedes driver that has counted three Formula One World Champion titles under his belt. He was recently on point during the Goodwood Festival of Speed to support the introduction of the Mercedes-AMG GT R.
While the R edition of the AMG GT is pretty hardcore in itself, it appears that Hamilton is interested in taking things to a completely new level, as he said he would very much like to be even more involved in the development of a self-named special edition. During a recent interview, Hamilton commented on how the company linked him to the GT R project and asked for his expert input. At that point though, the design was already done and while Hamilton had “all these ideas but they couldn’t be added”, a solution appears to come out of the “mist”. The driver in turn noted “we’ve spoken about doing a limited-edition, an LH Series, at some stage. Whether it’s this car or another one, I will be very, very hands on.”
Of course Hamilton refrained from delivering any more juicy details, only saying “There’s no one that can set the car up like I can set it up.” And he also added that no matter the model he develops it will be very close to an actual F1 car. And that makes us think the AMG GT remains the best candidate – we’re not imagining the GLE Coupe for instance getting any Formula One characteristics with or without Lewis’ input.
