Mercedes-AMG is allegedly preparing to take the wraps off a surprising new concept at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show – set to preview their new luxury four-door sedan set to take on models such as the Porsche Panamera.
We don’t have a name yet, but the rumor mill is constantly pushing the GT4 moniker into the equation, and the study should crown the company’s stand at the Swiss show, where the high performance division is also celebrating 50 years of existence. The model has been reported on numerous occasions, with even AMG chief Tobias Moers hinting the sedan is indeed on the agenda. Now we might be getting the preview concept to gauge audience interest, with the series production model than being revealed at European dealerships next week.
Intended as a replacement for the Mercedes-Benz CLS, the 600-horsepower (447-kilowatt) concept will naturally use the well known 4.0-liter V8 biturbo engine and set its basis on the MRA platform with bespoke modifications from AMG engineers such as “unique” wheelbase and track width measurements. There’s also talk of a new integrated starter generator (ISG), that should provide additional oomph for short periods of time.
