More precisely, the billionaire entrepreneur, CEO and co-founder of Tesla Motors has allegedly confirmed via Twitter the Model 3 entry-level sedan will also get the infamous “Ludicrous” Mode.
Apparently the executive quietly confirmed in his usual manner – via social media – the Model 3 will also pack the Ludicrous acceleration upgrade package, which should better the regular model’s 60 mph (96 km/h) acceleration time of less than six seconds. We’re saying it’s a quiet confirmation since Musk actually answered a Twitter user who asked if the new Model 3 will feature the Ludicrous mode, Musk simply replying “Of course.” As such, we have no information on what improvements the Ludicrous speed package will bring for the Model 3 but we can expect the upgrade to come in the same vein as the ones offered for the Model S and Model X.
For example the Model S P90D will reach 60 mph in 2.8 seconds and run the quarter mile in 10.9 seconds – an improvement over the standard model’s already impressive time of just 3.1 seconds. You may already know the Model 3 – which is more than a year away – is already up for pre-order and the company has registered more than 400,000 deposits of $1,000 each. The car should be priced from $35,000 before incentives – though here there’s a catch since surging past 200,000 units actually cuts the latter off – and it is expected to have a range of up to 215 miles on a single charge. Tesla scheduled deliveries for next year but announced plans to speed up things to fulfill the tremendous interest quicker.
