Report – Official introduction for Volvo V90 tipped for February 18 in Stockholm image

Sweden’s Volvo is on its way to refresh its entire top roster of the lineup – after the introduction of the XC90 crossover and S90 sedan, it’s time for us to see the V90 station wagon.

According to the latest report on the subject, the all-new generation of the V90 estate will officially be unveiled to the entire world during a special event taking place on February 18 in Stockholm, Sweden. The info comes from a rather reliable source – Teknikens Varld – who are also responsible for premiering the model ahead of time earlier last month. Now it appears the luxury wagon is going to receive its own singular reveal a full two weeks ahead of the Geneva Motor Show where the model will be on display for the wide audience. Since we’re talking about a 90 series model, we already know the all-new V90 is actually a rework of the S90 executive sedan platform and design to match up the estate criteria.

This means apart from the obvious design changes to the outside – you know, the liftgate and all – we’re looking at the same technologies in and out. That’s a good thing, since there’s plenty of them (we’re betting the moose avoidance system will also be on): SPA platform, full array of gasoline and diesel engines, all in four cylinder guise as we already know. So people might be able to opt for the D4 and D5 diesels sporting 190 and 235 hp (173 kW) respectively, or the T5 and T6 petrol units delivering 254 hp (187 kW) and 320 hp (235 kW). The flagship is the T8 Twin Engine hybrid version, which most likely will make an appearance later on during the model’s lifetime evolution.
