The popular Porsche Cayman GT4 will soon be offered with an optional PDK transmission.
Besides the current standard six-speed manual gearbox, the Porsche Cayman GT4 will soon get a PDK transmission as well. This will be offered as an option but it hasn’t been officially announced at the point. According to a recent report, published by Planet-9, the PDK transmission will be offered due to strong customer demand and it has been announced by Andreas Preuninger, the company’s GT boss.
The PDK equipped version of the Porsche Cayman will be slightly more expensive than the current one, which is starting from 85,779 euros in Germany and from 84,600 euros in the United States. Our source is also saying that a more hardcore version of the Porsche Cayman GT4, the so-called Cayman GT4 RS, has been ruled out for the current generation.
Porsche has introduced the Cayman GT4 earlier this year, back in March, during the 2015 Geneva Motor Show. This is the hottest version of the Cayman available and it has the 911 GT3 RS suspension system and brakes. The sports car is riding 30 mm closer to the ground and it also has carbon fiber reinforced plastic seats, carbon ceramic brakes, Sport Chrono package and so on.
Under its hood, the 3.8 liter flat six-cylinder engine, from the 911 Carrera S, has been added. This is capable of putting down 385 HP (283 kW) and 420 Nm (310 lb-ft) of torque, connected to a 6-speed manual transmission. The 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) acceleration is made in 4.4 seconds and top speed stands at 295 km/h (183 mph).
