Apparently the Panamera Sport Turismo concept from way back in 2012 will be used as the starting point for the rumored station wagon version of the current generation Panamera, set to arrive at the Geneva Motor Show in March.
According to comments made by Dr. Stefan Utsch, the director of sales and marketing for the Panamera, the new “five-door shooting brake” version of the model will have its cover blown at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show. The details remain scarce at the moment, so there’s no official indication if the Sport Turismo moniker will remain or the company will go for something else.
According to the rumor mill though, the new body style will not be an exact match to the foreshadowing concept, as it will feature a raised roofline and estate-style tailgate for added practicality. The automaker is looking to deliver a fluid five-door wagon, akin to the styling provided by Ferrari’s former FF – now the GTC4 Lusso. ‘It will have a very sharp design,’ also commented Porsche’s CEO Oliver Blume. ‘I think we will offer the first bodystyle in this segment, with even higher usability.’ The managers also believe the best markets for the new version will be China and Europe, having the same engine range and at least initially not coming in the long-wheelbase Executive version.
