According to French media reports, PSA Peugeot Citroen’s chief executive, Phillipe Varin, has been studying the case for a right hand aide – to take on the role of company chief operational officer.
PSA chief Philippe Varin is apparently so strong clamped with the restructuring and the establishment of new alliances that he wants to put the operations into other hands. French newspaper “Le Figaro” reported over the weekend that already a search committee should have produced its first candidates. Officially a search for a “number 2″ in the group was neither confirmed nor denied.
However, French media are already speculating whether the 61-year old Varin is possibly initiating the necessary process to allow his resignation from PSA next year. Also, among the strongest candidates considered by the French media was ex-Renault brand chief Carlos Tavares (55), who had been put on leave this summer by Renault-Nissan President Carlos Ghosn after Tavares publicly spoke its possible change to another carmaker.
