Report – Upcoming Audi S4 could bump power to 350 hp image

The Audi A4 has received a new generation – internally called B9 – and already rumors and whispers are jumping to the hotter S4 variant that should follow in the near future.

A recent report coming from Car & Driver is now here to give us a few worth mentioning details about the next generation S4 model, which should arrive no later than next year. We already know the Ingolstadt brand has decided to award us with the ultra-hot RS4 Avant sooner than anyone had anticipated, but before that happens the performance oriented S4 variant will fill the void. According to our colleagues from Car & Driver, the engine will remain the same supercharged V6 3.0-liter TFSI mill, albeit it will be milked for more horsepower – somewhere around 350 PS, which is just 17 PS more than what the current generation, S4 B8, delivers. We still have no details about the torque figure, but we know that more power means more torque so we expect a bump from the current 440 Nm (324 lb-ft).

Naturally, all that stable will use the credentials of Audi’s iconic quattro permanent all-wheel drive system and the assembly will have a great marriage with the 7-speed dual-clutch S tronic transmission. We don’t know if the six speed manual version is doomed or not, with demand judging the availability of the option. The S4 will receive its usual sedan and Avant portrayals, though the latter might not head across the pond to US dealerships. Still, Audi USA, which is selling hotly in recent months, might want to stir the customers with the delivery of the hotter RS4 Avant and/or the RS5 Sportback.
