The Audi USA range has been updated this year with a couple of major additions – the all new generations of the A4 sedan and Q7 crossover.
But among the big ranks there is also room for other improvements. Here come the new 2017 A6 and A7 Competition models to fill in the slots. The Competition version is a neat way of making a pass from the standard A6 and A7 to the high-performance S6 and S7. According to a recent report the new Competition models will use the usual 3.0 TFSI 6-cylinder, churning out 340 horsepower for the iteration. Since this is at rumor level, we don’t have the detailed technical specifications so we have to wait for official word to see if under the hood there’s an upgraded supercharged engine like in the S5 or a new turbo version like the one used for the 2017 S4.
And the European A6 Competition and A7 Competition won’t guide us much since they are packing the 3.0 BiTDI engine. In their case it creates 326 hp, with another 20 hp available via the overboost function. We do imagine the Competition models in the US will be featured above the flagship Prestige trim level and come with bigger 20-inch 5-double-spoke wheels finished in matte Titanium. It also appears there will be a quattro rear limited slip differential. Exterior features will include the S-line kit, red brake calipers with gloss black mirror caps and inside drivers should be greeted by a 3-spoke flat-bottomed multifunction steering wheel, S line sports seats and Valcona leather trim.
